Dr. Luc Tétaz

Dr. Luc Tétaz began his career in dentistry by obtaining his Master’s degree in Dentistry in 1991, followed by his doctorate at the University of Geneva in 1993. He then had the opportunity to work for two enriching years at the Lausanne University Medical Polyclinic (PMU) under the supportive mentorship of Dr. Michel Perrier, while also collaborating with various dental practices.

He is an active member of both the Société Vaudoise des Médecins-Dentistes and the Société Suisse d’Odontostomatologie—two associations that reflect his deep passion for dentistry.

In 1995, Dr. Tétaz took over his father’s dental practice, originally established by Dr. Jean-Jacques Tétaz, and expanded it in 2000, thus continuing and enhancing the family legacy.

In his day-to-day practice, Dr. Tétaz covers a wide spectrum of dental treatments, including implant surgery, gingival and bone grafts, extractions, wisdom tooth removal, and endodontics. He also specializes in prosthetic reconstructions on both implants and natural teeth, creating bridges, crowns, and ceramic veneers. Furthermore, he collaborates closely with an osteopath to address temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and postural issues through non-invasive methods.

Interview Dr Tétaz

Can you tell us a little about your background and what made you decide to become a dentist?

I was immersed in the world of dentistry from an early age, with a father who was a dentist and a sister who was a dental hygienist. So I was very quickly attracted to what those around me were doing.

What areas of dentistry are you most passionate about and what areas have you specialised in ?

For me, a comprehensive view of my patient's needs, taking full responsibility for the smile, from its analysis and design to its transformation, from surgery to prosthetic reconstruction, are the foundations of good treatment.

What are the fundamental values that guide your approach to dental care at Oral Clinic?

Listening to my patients, and the idea of not harming them, of treating them as I would want my own family to be treated.

Can you briefly explain your treatment philosophy, particularly in terms of prevention and quality of care?

Only a close, coordinated team can provide quality care, and all prevention is supported by my prophylaxis team, dental hygienists and prophylaxis assistants.

What technological advances or innovative methods does Oral Clinic use to provide the best possible dental care?

Technology is a world in perpetual motion. In recent years, we have expanded our range of treatments with digital and "volumetric" radiology, LASER technology, intra-oral camera impressions and reduced noise levels. These advances have helped to improve patient comfort and experience as well as treatment accuracy.

How do you create a welcoming and reassuring environment for patients who may be anxious about going to the dentist?

By making contact, offering a warm welcome and building confidence through honest discussion and exchange about the seriousness of the patient's fear, anxiety and even gag reflexes, we can put in place an appropriate treatment strategy, such as nitrous oxide treatment if necessary.

What advice would you give to people who want to maintain good oral health at home between visits to the dentist?

As a general rule, brush your teeth thoroughly and regularly with a healthy, balanced diet and, most importantly, follow the instructions given by the Oral Clinic team on a case-by-case basis.

How is Oral Clinic different from other dental clinics and practices in the area ?

The entire Oral Clinic team is sincerely committed to the well-being of our patients and is highly qualified in the dental care we provide. Our atmosphere is friendly, familiar and welcoming. Oral Clinic is a dental practice on a human scale, with the skills of a large clinic !
