The story of a dental practice rich in expertise and dedication

1958

Dr Jean-Jacques Tétaz opened his dental practice in 1958, after completing his initial training in dentistry in Geneva and a course in maxillofacial surgery in Düsseldorf. Passionate about dental aesthetics, he studied at the University of Southern California (USC) and worked on onlays and veneers, which were the benchmark for aesthetics at the time. The practice soon specialised in surgery and complex post-traumatic prosthetic reconstructions, establishing its reputation for excellence and expertise in dental care.

1969

Ten years after opening, the practice welcomes the first dental hygienist in French-speaking Switzerland, recognising the crucial importance of prevention and prophylaxis in maintaining optimum oral health.

1993

The continuity of our history was assured in 1993 when Dr Luc Tétaz, son of the founder, joined his father as a partner in the practice.

Drawing on his experience in preventive dentistry and surgery, gained in particular at the University of Lausanne Medical Polyclinic ( PMU ), Dr Luc Tétaz expanded the practice's expertise to include implantology, bone and periodontal regeneration surgery, and aesthetic dentistry.

1995

Dr Luc Tétaz took over the reins of the practice 2 years later, bringing with him a wealth of experience and an unwavering desire to continue the family legacy. His quest for excellence led him to obtain an SSO postgraduate diploma in oral implantology and an SSO post-graduate diploma in general dentistry, while enhancing his skills in dental aesthetics by working with the best in the field.

2021

Dr. Chloé Garcia will be joining the practice in 2021 and will significantly strengthen the team. With her clinical skills in dental emergencies and oral surgery, she will help us to continually improve the quality of our dental care.

2023

Today, the practice has adopted the new name Oral Clinic by Tétaz, while remaining faithful to the original philosophy and preserving the values that have guided our practice since 1958. Guided by our passion for hygiene and prevention, we do everything in our power to prevent oral problems and guarantee the long-term future of our care.

We have always been guided by the desire to support families and individuals throughout their lives. Because with us, you're not just a patient, you're a person in your own right.

Dr. Luc Tétaz

Dr. Luc Tétaz began his career in dentistry by obtaining his Master’s degree in dentistry in 1991, followed by his doctorate at the University of Geneva in 1993. He then had the opportunity to work for two rewarding years at the Lausanne University Medical Polyclinic (PMU) under the benevolent guidance of Dr. Michel Perrier, while collaborating with various dental practices.

He is also an active member of the Société Vaudoise des médecins-dentistes and the Société Suisse d’odontostomatologie, two associations that share his passion for dentistry.

In 1995, Dr. Tétaz took over the dental practice of his father, Dr. Jean-Jacques Tétaz, and expanded it in 2000, thus contributing to his professional legacy.

On a day-to-day basis, his practice covers a wide range of areas, from implant surgery to gingival and bone grafting, extractions, wisdom teeth and endodontics. He also extends his expertise to prosthetic reconstructions, whether on implants or on natural teeth, making bridges, crowns and ceramic veneers. He also works closely with an osteopath to help treat temporomandibular joint disorders and postural problems, all non-invasively.

Dr. Chloé Garcia

After completing her compulsory education in Aubonne and obtaining her Maturité in Morges at the age of 17, Chloé Garcia decided to take a sabbatical year to improve her language skills through educational stays in the United States and Spain.

She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in dentistry in 2017, followed by her Master’s degree in 2019 at the University of Geneva, at the age of 23. Between 2019 and 2021, she will enrich her career as a dental assistant at the HUG, working in the department of Oral Surgery and Implantology Department, while writing her thesis. During this time, she gained valuable experience in dealing with dental emergencies and surgical procedures. She also discovered the world of private practice on the French Riviera, combining two complementary aspects of the profession.

Her desire to broaden her horizons has led her to join Dr Luc Tétaz’s dental practice in September 2021. She brings with her a solid background of clinical skills and theoretical knowledge acquired during her academic and hospital experience.

In 2022, she will become a member of the SSO, an important step in her career.

Interview Dr Tétaz

Can you tell us a little about your background and what made you decide to become a dentist?

I was immersed in the world of dentistry from an early age, with a father who was a dentist and a sister who was a dental hygienist. So I was very quickly attracted to what those around me were doing.

What areas of dentistry are you most passionate about and what areas have you specialised in ?

For me, a comprehensive view of my patient's needs, taking full responsibility for the smile, from its analysis and design to its transformation, from surgery to prosthetic reconstruction, are the foundations of good treatment.

What are the fundamental values that guide your approach to dental care at Oral Clinic?

Listening to my patients, and the idea of not harming them, of treating them as I would want my own family to be treated.

Can you briefly explain your treatment philosophy, particularly in terms of prevention and quality of care?

Only a close, coordinated team can provide quality care, and all prevention is supported by my prophylaxis team, dental hygienists and prophylaxis assistants.

What technological advances or innovative methods does Oral Clinic use to provide the best possible dental care?

Technology is a world in perpetual motion. In recent years, we have expanded our range of treatments with digital and "volumetric" radiology, LASER technology, intra-oral camera impressions and reduced noise levels. These advances have helped to improve patient comfort and experience as well as treatment accuracy.

How do you create a welcoming and reassuring environment for patients who may be anxious about going to the dentist?

By making contact, offering a warm welcome and building confidence through honest discussion and exchange about the seriousness of the patient's fear, anxiety and even gag reflexes, we can put in place an appropriate treatment strategy, such as nitrous oxide treatment if necessary.

What advice would you give to people who want to maintain good oral health at home between visits to the dentist?

As a general rule, brush your teeth thoroughly and regularly with a healthy, balanced diet and, most importantly, follow the instructions given by the Oral Clinic team on a case-by-case basis.

How is Oral Clinic different from other dental clinics and practices in the area ?

The entire Oral Clinic team is sincerely committed to the well-being of our patients and is highly qualified in the dental care we provide. Our atmosphere is friendly, familiar and welcoming. Oral Clinic is a dental practice on a human scale, with the skills of a large clinic !

Interview Dre. Garcia

Can you tell us a little about your background and what made you decide to become a dentist?

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always dreamed of becoming a dentist. I remember playing dentist with my friends while some of them pretended to be schoolmistresses.

What areas of dentistry are you most passionate about and have you specialised in ?

One of my favourite aspects of the job is the variety of treatments and the fact that you can go through a day without ever doing the same thing twice. When I finished my studies, I worked in oral sugery at HUG to perfect my skills in this area. But what I really like is the fact that I get to practice all the different types of dental treatment and care on a daily basis.

What are the core values that guide your approach to care at the Oral Clinic?

Empathy, listening to patients and taking their needs and wishes into account. We know that not many people enjoy going to the dentist. But if I can reduce their anxiety before the visit by putting them at ease, taking the time to listen and gaining their confidence at their own pace, then half the treatment is already done :-).

What advice would you give to people who want to maintain good oral health at home between visits to the dentist?

A healthy, low-sugar diet, regular and disciplined dental hygiene (brush your teeth 2-3 times a day: yes! But not in 25 seconds... more like 2 minutes!) and regular scaling by our hygienists or prophylaxis assistants.

How do you think Oral Clinic is different from other clinics and practices dental care in the area ?

Multidisciplinary care is provided without the need to consult a multitude of dentists, while maintaining the spirit of a practice attentive to the needs of the whole family.
